The so-called “GeForce RTX 3070 Ti” graphics cards from a minor graphics card manufacturer barely match the desktop GeForce RTX 3060 Ti CPU’s performance. The board is based on a specially configured version of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics processor for laptops; it is unrelated to the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti for desktops. Unfortunately, even when the company does provide the product’s specifications, the model number is still somewhat deceptive so you won’t find the product on any lists of the top graphics cards. VideoCardz has discovered the 51 Risc GeForce RTX 3070 TiM graphics card, which is available for purchase on AliExpress.

In most cases, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti should perform similarly to the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti based on its clocks, but it will never match the frame rate offered by the GeForce RTX 3070. Even said, it can outperform both in workloads demanding high memory bandwidth thanks to its 17.5 GTps of memory. In contrast to the cheapest GeForce RTX 3070 ($530), the RTX 3070 Ti is also rather inexpensive at $337 with free shipping from China to the US. However, considering the price of the board, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti ($389) board on Amazon is roughly the most cost-effective option.

The 51 Risc GeForce RTX 3070 TiM appears to be like all current low-cost gaming graphics cards: It has a dual-fan cooling system, an eight-pin auxiliary PCIe power connector, four display outputs, and a reasonably small dual-wide device. The device is identified only by the words “RTX 3070 TI 8G DDR6” on its backplate. The board has a 220W TDP, matching the GeForce RTX 3070 for desktop use. However, the GeForce RTX 3070 TiM needs drivers for the laptop GPU, which 51Risc neither conceals nor states explicitly. Counterfeit processors and graphics cards are less common today than 20 years ago, at least in developed nations.

However, the growth of international trade allowed for the import of fake hardware into the US from Asian retailers. Forged processors and graphics cards are less widespread today than 20 years ago, at least in wealthy nations. However, the growth of international trade made it easier for fake hardware to travel from Asian shops to the United States and Europe. By all means, 51Risc does not create faulty hardware because it sufficiently publishes specs and even identifies the silicon it uses. However, the somewhat confusing naming appears to be quite misleading and could fool a customer unaware of numerous GPU quirks.
